Shimama Organization
In 2022, the Shimama Organization was founded as an integral part of the humanitarian framework, and engages in various social challenges. The focus areas for the organization are care for orphans, schooling and education, the fight for women's rights, as well as a goal of increased inclusion of people with disabilities in society.
Shimama organization operates in rural as well as urban areas, but is more focus in rural areas which are under extreme hardship. The area Shimama operates in right now is in South Kivu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the city is called Bukavu.
Shimama Organization is run without profit considerations. All work takes place as a voluntary effort to help others who are in difficulty.

Shimama means "stand", with the intention of helping others up from the ground and to stand on their own two feet.
Why choose Shimama?
Shimama is built on the will to extend a helping hand to people facing challenging circumstances. The idea is to offer support that enables the recipient to achieve self-sufficiency.
The aim is to achieve independence, so that those who receive help can become self-reliant and independent in the longer term. This is due to our ambition to avoid someone becoming permanently dependent on help.
Shimama wants to give a helping hand to help you get up, with the intention that you can later give the same helping hand to others in the future.
